The Great Carbon Boondoggle: Inside the Struggle to Stop Summit’s CO2 Pipeline

Carbon capture and storage is receiving massive public funding and political support in the US where it is touted as a key path to reduce CO2 emissions. As the COP27 gets underway on November 8, 2022, the Oakland Institute hosted a press conference about Summit Carbon Solutions’ plan to establish the largest carbon capture and storage project in the world. The Oakland Institute also launched a new report, The Great Carbon Boondoggle: Inside the Struggle to Stop Summit’s CO2 Pipeline, exposing the billion-dollar financial interests and high-level political ties driving the Midwest Carbon Express.

Researchers, Indigenous and community representatives came together to discuss the findings of the report and why they oppose the project.
