A Message for You and Your Loved Ones
I am thinking of you and I hope that you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe.
The spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) has forced changes in our lives that we could not have ever imagined. These are difficult and uncertain times for everyone—especially the most vulnerable. Solidarity, creativity, prudence, and compassion is needed more than ever today.
Despite the unprecedented and challenging circumstances, the Oakland Institute team continues to work undeterred using technology for research, communication, and advocacy. We are in regular contact with our partners and fellows around the world and we promise to continue standing by the communities we work with!
Just last week our advocacy resulted in Swedish Energy Agency terminating its carbon credit agreement with Green Resources, a Norwegian Pine Plantation company, given the devastating impact that the project has had on the local villagers in Uganda. Please follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for the latest on our research and advocacy for land rights and Indigenous rights.
Thank you so much for being with us every step of the way – With a strong and supportive partnership, we have no doubt that we can navigate these uncharted waters with grace, empathy, and resiliency.
