Submit Information

If you have information that may be of public interest around the areas of work of the Oakland Institute—documents, photos, video, as well as testimonies, we encourage you to contact us. We do our utmost to guarantee the confidentiality of our sources.

Securely Submitting Information

There are basic safety measures you can take to protect yourself when giving information that may serve public interest. For instance, details of phone calls made from a large building are often recorded on the building's electronic systems. There is nothing sinister in this. But it is safer to use a public phone when contacting us, just as it is safer to use an internet cafe when sending files.

If you are familiar with PGP encryption you can use it to send encrypted messages and files to the Oakland Institute. Our public key can be found on the MIT Public Key Server; our email address is [email protected]. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has good online resources(link is external) where you can learn more secure digital communication.

No electronic form of communication is entirely secure--sometimes the safest ways are the old-fashioned ways. You can post printed documents, or electronic files on a portable storage device (a thumb drive, hard drive, memory card, DVD, CD, etc.) directly to The Oakland Institute at the below address.
